I have primary school head teacher experience in two Leicestershire schools over twenty years and have taught in the primary sector for over forty years.  I have been an accredited Ofsted inspector for schools from 1996 to 2015 and have substantial experience of inspection in many primary schools.  I have also worked as an advisor for Leicestershire, Gloucestershire and Coventry.

My particular areas of expertise include all aspects of leadership and management, curriculum development, teaching and learning and monitoring and evaluation.  I also have supported schools to prepare for forthcoming inspections and have worked with head teachers and governors on performance management.

I became a school governor because I believe there are few roles more meaningful than supporting the development of a school environment where children can thrive. Helping all pupils reach their potential, both academically and personally, is a responsibility I value deeply. I have two children at Glen Hills Primary (in Year 2 and 4+), and I feel privileged to contribute to a school that plays such an important role in our community. I work as a Senior Lecturer in Sport Rehabilitation and have experience in curriculum development and student support across Further and Higher Education. While my professional background informs my approach, my focus as a governor is to serve the school’s best interests and support its ongoing success. I also enjoy volunteering to support reading when I can and share the school’s commitment to high standards and personal development.

My career to date has focused on Event and Project management, starting with gaining a Master’s degree in Event Management, working in theatre and arts development, through to being a senior member of an event agency planning and running large scale events across Europe.

My role is now within the British Society for Immunology (BSI), where we drive scientific discovery to improve public health. Every event has to be delivered to a high standard, on time and in budget, with a focus on continual improvement, something that I will bring to the role of governor.  

The BSI is a registered charity which gives me an insight into working with tight budgets and limited resources, the need to innovate and the importance of clear leadership and messaging. Again all of which are useful transferable skills to the governor role.

My daughter started at Glen Hills in September 2021 and I have seen firsthand how she has been supported and enabled to grow, and I look forward to the opportunity to support as wellbeing governor and challenge the leadership of the school to ensure this continues for every child that attends.
