Glen Hills Primary School is a Trust member and Lead Hub school for the Symphony Learning Trust
This year our school is taking part in a project called Route to Resilience. This is part of a national agenda promoted by the Department for Education and Public Health England to try to support children’s mental health. It is being led by Steve Harris of Wellbeing Education and we are part of a cohort of local schools working together.
We believe that social and emotional well-being of our children is a crucial part of helping them to cope with the pressures they face as they grow up. All the staff are committed to supporting children’s happiness and developing character traits that will help them be successful both at school and in life. Our values and growth mindset ethos run throughout our curriculum and we are building on this further this year through the Route to Resilience project. All staff and children are learning about the power of vocabulary and choosing our words carefully to help the children ‘exercise these character muscles’. The ones we have chosen to focus on are:
Going the extra mile
You may find your child is coming home with ‘homework’, which requires them to show one of our chosen characteristics. If you are happy for us to tweet any photos showing them in action please send us a copy by e mail or tweet it to the school. Lindsey Woodward and Marie Applewhite have attended training by Fun and Families and will be inviting parents to get involved with this project. Look out for them in the hall on Parents’ Evenings where they will be happy to tell you more.
