Subject areas of expertise: Teaching Yr 4, Drama Lead/Literacy Shadow/MVA Lead.

Ensuring I provide stimulating and exciting challenges for the children I teach daily. Running Drama Club for the Juniors, introducing pupils to techniques such as improvisation, script writing and performance. We also produce, write and stage a short performance at the end of the course.

I have researched various aspects of Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling over the last two years, enabling new ideas, resources and strategies to be put in place across the school and delivered INSET training to staff. Over the last year I have attended the Trust Literacy Meetings on a termly basis; sharing ideas and good practise with other schools and then providing SLT with feedback.

Within my role at Glen Hills, I believe my own knowledge and understanding of ‘current pedagogy’ new research and ideas, enables me to give new perspective and inspire good practise in others as well as monitor effect and impact and give constructive feedback to pupils, staff, parents, SLT and The Governing Body.

A Human Resources professional with 20 years’ experience within multinational organisations, the final 5 years in senior management positions. My specialist area was employment law and successfully negotiated many challenging deals.

After the birth of my second son I changed focus to concentrate on health and wellness. I devote one day a week to a local charity where I help deliver nutritional workshops and also coach them through employment decisions.  I am currently mid-way through a Nutrition and Lifestyle Sciences degree and a Diploma in Clinical Nutrition.  I also run my own muscular therapy business.

I have two boys who have both attended Glen Hills, the oldest of whom will leave Glen Hills in 2018 and continue to secondary school.

The role of school governor matches my skill set as I have many years of questioning thought processes and coaching managers to ensure they achieve their desired outcome. As a snr member of the leadership team I am comfortable working at a strategic level and achieving long term goals through small incremental steps.

After working in senior management within the retail fashion industry as a buyer for the last 15 years I am currently on a career break and now a full time mum looking after and supporting my young family. My eldest of which is currently a pupil at Glen Hills Primary School. My partner is a local business man and I also help him with the day to day running of his business. 

I bring with me to the role of parent governor 15 years of professional management, public speaking and reviewing, planning and implementation of strategies at a senior level. I have also travelled extensively to the Far East, America & Europe for both work and pleasure. 

I relish the opportunity that the role of being a parent school governor entails and I am motivated to make a positive contribution to the educational and social development of the children at the school and to help the head teacher and governors in managing the school. 

I am a strong believer that every child, regardless of  their starting point, should have the same life chances and be supported to reach their full potential and I will do all I can to make this vision a reality.

I currently work as a buyer for a lift company. Alonngside this, I am also a Director for the company Quizhold Ltd. Within this position, I look after many businesses elements as well as the general running and up keep of the local Sports and Social CLub in Glen Parva.

Previously, for the last 17 years, I ahve also been a Governor at South Wigston High School. Within this period, I have taken the role as Vice Chair of Governors until stepping down in 2017. Throughout my time as a Governor at South Wigston High School, I also chaired the premises and finance committee.

I have close links with Glen Hills Primary School and I am incrediably passionate about this wonderful school. I have seasonally volunteered at Glen Hilsl for the past 20+ years.

The skills I can offer as a governor are: a knowledge of health and safety, building and planning expertise, as well as the importance of safeguarding. I believe that the students learning is fundamental and the ethos of the school reflects this. I look forward to being part of the governing body at Glen Hills.

Chris has an interest in Educational Research, and before developing her private Psychotherapy practice in personal and organisational development (UKCP accredited), she taught in secondary school (20 years) holding senior management roles in curriculum and Pastoral Care. I am the Head of School at Glen Hills Primary School and have worked at the school for about 9 years.  I was appointed to the school as an Assistant Head teacher, Phase two leader, ICT leader and Class teacher.  I was then promoted to the position of Deputy Head teacher, phase one leader and Literacy leader, where I continued to teach and in January 2015 I became the Head of School.

I have previous experience in two schools where I worked my way up to becoming an Assistant Head teacher, having coordinated Maths and key stage 2. I was also a community Governor at my local school. Prior to teaching I trained as a solicitor, so as a Governor I have legal, educational and management experience to add to the Governing body.

I have been a partner at law firm Shakespeare Martineau for the last 6 years and have worked in the Leicester business community all my working life.  As a partner the skills I utilise on a daily basis are management of people, financial analysis and management, external and internal communication, PR and marketing and working in partnership with 120 other partners.

 

I was a pupil at Glen Hills School back in the 1980’s and have fond memories of the school.  My parents are both retired Headteachers and Ofsted Inspectors and my mother is existing Chair of Governors at an inner city school – I believe this background will assist me with awareness of the current issues in education. 

 

My eldest child has recently started in Foundation and I have twins who will start in three years time.  I am eager to broaden my involvement with the school and keen to foster relationships with parents and staff.  As a parent I naturally want the best for every child and, if I can make a difference in my support of the school, that would make me very happy.
