Our expectations of parental / school links…

We fully appreciate the importance of building home/school links at Glen Hills. Homework tasks will be given out on a Friday, to be returned on the following Wednesday, unless otherwise informed.

Reading with your child is probably the most vital aspect of ensuring children get a love of books! Ideally, a little bit of reading together should be done every day with specific questioning of the text they have read to assist with comprehension and secured understanding.  Please encourage your child to take part in the Reading Miles and support them by reading with them regularly.

Spellings will be given out by your child’s teacher to learn and they will follow specific spelling rules for year 5.

Maths – times tables (as detailed by your child’s teacher) and number facts will be given out for homework, as well as reinforcement of techniques learnt in school.  Please also encourage children to take part in Times Tables Rock Stars regularly and ensure they have their log in details for MyMaths and Google Classroom.
