Report on the Pupil Premium Funding

At Glen Hills Primary School, the growth and development of the whole child is considered paramount, as human life is a blend of the spiritual, the physical and the intellectual.

The school would not function in isolation and will endeavour to forge strong links with homes, parishes and the wider community.

It aims to provide a curriculum, which meets the educational needs and enhances the growth of the child within its full development.

The Pupil Premium is allocated to local authorities and schools with pupils on roll that are known to have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any time in the last six years. Schools have the freedom to spend the Premium, which is additional to the underlying school’s budget, in ways they think will best support the raising of attainment for the most vulnerable pupils.

We will ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of pupils and that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed. In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged. We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or group of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged. At least 50% of any group will be made up of FSM pupils. Pupil Premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources means that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of Pupil Premium interventions at any one time.

Our Pupil Premium provision is closely monitored and the measures we have introduced are making sure that our Pupil Premium pupils are developing well and we continually aim to narrow that gap.
