Google Classroom
Below are some of the comments we have received from parents in Lockdown 3 in relation to our remote learning offer to children.
Thanks for all that you have done this week. I'm sure that it hasn't been easy and that you've had plenty of hiccups along the way, but rest assured you have done a great job. Looking forward to next week!
I just wanted to let you know that I think you're doing a great job with the home learning. The videos are good and the amount of work is right. My son really appreciates the personalised feedback too.
My primary school colleaguyes are doing a brilliant job in providing recorded lessons to keep the children engaged and on track. Certainly remote learning has evolved since last March! My anxiety levels of home schooling my 4 kids are reduced! Thank you to all staff!
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Glen Hills, but especially to those in 4+ who have made this week a positive one for my daughter.
She had been so looking forward to going back but when we were placed in lockdown again we knew things would be a little different for her.
However, staff have been welcoming, positive and enthusiastic, putting my mind at ease and making my daughter's return to school after Christmas as easy and worry-free as possible.
She has come home from school happy and excited to tell me about her 'new' class and the activities they've been completing.
It's a huge relief to me that she's happy and well nurtured.
Thank you for all the time and effort you're making to ensure your school is a happy, safe place to be.
It is much appreciated.
A wonderfully kind letter to Ofsted from one of our parents
To whom it may concern,
In light of The Secretary of State for Education's suggestion that parents contact Ofsted with feedback on their child's school, I am writing to you regarding Glen Hills Primary School, Leicester (URN 137932).
My son is in Year Four at Glen Hills. He attends school two days a week on a keyworker place and learns at home on the other three days.
Over the past fortnight, the staff at Glen Hills have been under immense pressure and have risen to the challenge admirably. Not only have they provided the mandatory amount of work for my son, by they have made sure that this work is as engaging as possible. It is clear from the resources provided that his teachers and the other staff have worked incredibly hard in a very short space of time to ensure that children continue to learn and make progress.
Even more importantly, the Year 4 Google Classroom stream is full of encouraging and uplifting messages from the school staff, which is a joy to see. I can only imagine how hard they are all working, and yet their top priority is to communicate in a positive and hopeful manner to all of their pupils. In a similar vein, we have had regular letters from the head teacher, in which she is keen to stress that the school is there to offer any support we need. The fact that all of this work is being done against a backdrop of endless pressure on teachers and a tone-deaf approach from the DfE is worth remembering.
None of this surprises me, as the ethos at Glen Hills has always been wonderful. I cannot imagine that any parent would contact you with anything other than positive feedback. I feel very grateful to the staff at Glen Hills and I am keen for you at Ofsted to recognise their immense contribution to our community.
Kind regards
This page has been created for parents and children to help you access and use Google Classroom, our online learning platform for Years 1 - 6.
Step-by-step parents instructions on how to access and use Google Classroom can be downloaded below. We have also added a useful Parent Guide.
We would suggest that, after accessing your child's Classroom, you and your child familiarise yourself with the platform together. This is where teachers will set work in the event of a bubble closure due to COVID-19. There will be a range of 'assignments' posted and some of the tasks can be uploaded/completed online for the teacher to view.
Tasks (assignments) for the children to complete will be posted on a daily basis during any further national lockdown or year group isolation.
Please regularly discuss online safety with your children. Click the button below to access lots of E-Safety information posters. Our Anti-bullying and E-Safety page also has lots of advice.
If you have any problems with accessing our Google Classroom, please read the guides below and also watch the videos further down the page. If you are still having any issues then please email office@glen-hills.leics.sch.uk and we will respond as soon as we can.
